BASAR, Mar 31: Forty-four farmers received organic inputs such as copper oxychloride, neem-based insecticides and knapsack sprayers during a training programme titled ‘Livelihood improvement of tribal farmers through technological empowerment and input support’ organized under the Tribal Sub Plan at Nyigam village here in Lower Siang district on Saturday.
Agri-entomology scientist Dr Anup Chandra made the farmers aware of the importance of copper oxychloride in organic disease management, and the role of neem-based insecticide in insect pest management in rice, vegetables, and horticultural crops.
The farmers were also made aware of the safety measures to be followed in spraying of pesticides, along with techniques of using the knapsack sprayer.
Lectures were also delivered on application of the novel technology of shield bug (Gandhi puk) traps, the process and procedures of vermicomposting, and insect-pest management in the major crops of the area.
