Alternative against opium

Dear Editor,
The Government Of India has provided an alternative policy for the opium cultivators in Arunachal Pradesh. The state has the largest illegal opium cultivation all over india, whereas Lohit And Anjaw Districts has the largest illegal opium cultivation in the state. The opium has become major source of income for the livelihood of the people.
The youths and students of the state are terribly effected because of growing cultivation of opium within the span of four decades. Subsequently, the menace of opium Addiction is ruining and spoiling the youths of Arunacahal Pradesh. Especially, the youths and students of Lohit, Anjaw, Tirap, Changlang, Longding And Namsai are major victims.
Henceforth, the government has initiated various drive to destroy the opium field which has faced a serious retaliation from the side of public.
Therefore, in order to eradicate the menace of opium addiction, the government of india is providing an alternative policy for the opium cultivators, which is a stupendous initiative. But the fund sanctioned is only for 40 for Lohit and 39 for each families in Anjaw, whereas there are thousands of people who are cultivating opium in a large scale in these two districts. Therefore, this would not be enough to cover all the opium cultivators. The Government Of India would needs to sanction more funds for more units to cover all opium cultivators.
Yours,
Maakamso Tayang, Lohit, Arunachal Pradesh
