ITANAGAR, Apr 27: Superintending engineers, executive engineers, AEs, JEs, zilla preraks and consultants participated in a state level review meeting on Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) components for the 2017-18 financial year, at the state water testing laboratory here on Friday.
SBM (G) Mission Director Toko Jyoti made a short presentation on the overall activities under SBM (G), and lauded the field functionaries for their efforts in attaining open defecation-free (ODF) status.
The executive engineers made PowerPoint presentations on component-wise physical and financial achievements of their departments for the year 2017-18; the updated position of ODF verification; the status of geo-tagging; action plan for 2018-19; innovative proposal for sustainability of ODF status, etc.
PHE&WS Minister Bamang Felix praised the PHED team for achieving the ODF status, and stressed on the importance of sustaining the status.
He accentuated the need to continue with the same zeal and enthusiasm on the ‘Water to all’ programme, to be completed by 2021 – a year ahead of the national target, which is 2022.
He also emphasized the need to “take responsibility to convert this movement into a ‘jan andolan’ and change the mindset of the public.”
The zilla Swachh Bharat preraks working in various districts of the state shared their experiences and ideas for sustainability of the ODF status and solid liquid & waste management.
SBM (G) Mission Director S Yomcha also attended the meeting.
