Rongali Bihu celebration ends with pomp

MAHADEVPUR, May 15: The Lekang Anchalic Rongali Bihu Sammilan (LARBS) concluded with great pomp and show here in Namsai district on Monday.
A large number of people from different communities residing in Mahadevpur area attended the concluding ceremony of the sammilan.
Greeting the people, UD Minister Nabam Rebia called upon the younger generation of the Assamese community to give more emphasis on preservation of their age-old culture and tradition.
He also credited the contribution of Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein for bringing substantial development in Namsai district, and highlighted the welfare measures initiated by the state government.
MLA Chow Tewa Mein lauded the various communities of Lekang constituency for jointly celebrating Bihu. “This has made the celebration more beautiful,” he said, and urged the gathering to maintain the spirit.
DCM Chowna Mein said that the celebrating festivals reinforce love and goodwill among people and strengthen the bonds of unity and bonhomie. He lauded the Assamese community for keeping their rich culture and traditions alive, and urged the young generation to carry forward the legacy.
LARBS committee advisor LR Neog and secretary Prahlad Moron also spoke.
