Zilla parishad office inaugurated

PASIGHAT, May 28: The East Siang zilla parishad office at Gumin Nagar here was inaugurated on Monday by Zilla Parishad Chairperson (ZPC) Kaling Dai.
The office, which is equipped with all the modern facilities required for delivering time-bound services, was built at a cost Rs 90 lakh granted under SPA, informed Dai.
ADC Tatdo Borang, who was also present, said the panchayat leaders must ensure provision of basic amenities to enhance the quality of life in villages.
He urged the district’s ZPMs to make all basic facilities available in their respective segments to prevent the migration of people from rural to urban areas.
Senior most ZPM K Dabi highlighted the formation and achievement of the Panchayat Raj Institution (PRI) in Arunachal Pradesh.
Later, during a zilla parishad meeting chaired by the ZPC, the participants requested the state government to allow the panchayat members to continue their services until the next election.
The five-year term of the Panchayati Raj Institution in the state expires on 31 May.
The participants at the meeting also said honorarium should be given to the member secretaries of gram sabhas, anchal samities, and zilla parishads, and that the posts of panchayat technical assistant, computer-cum-account, and computer assistant should be regularized at the earliest.
All the ZPMs of East Siang and Lower Siang districts attended the meeting. (DIPRO)
