ITANAGAR, Jun 6: The Directorate Service Officers Association of Arunachal (DSOAA) has strongly condemned an act of intimidation it said was carried out against the animal husbandry veterinary & dairy development (AHV&DD) director by a group of people who also vandalized his government quarters at D-Sector, Nirjuli.
DSOAA president Talo Potom informed that the incident took place on 4 June, when a group of miscreants vandalized the director’s quarters and threatened the director with dire consequences if he failed to pay them money.
Potom said the group of seven forcibly entered the quarters at around 9:30 am, when the director was away in Itanagar on official engagement.
“They manhandled his domestic help, switched off the CCTV camera, forcefully searched his whole house, and took away valuables before leaving. The director has been warned and asked to pay money over phone since last month by the miscreants,” Potom stated in a press release on Wednesday. He appealed to the law enforcing agency to provide protection to the officer and book the culprits at the earliest.
Lamenting that acts of intimidation “by a certain group of miscreants” against government officers to extract money has become a regular practice, the DSOAA requested the state government to “provide security to all directorate officers, including the residences of directors along with PSOs as per the recent cabinet decision.”
