MIRBUK, Jun 17: Residents of Mirbuk village in East Siang district participated in a yoga awareness camp organised here by the Pasighat-based Field Outreach Bureau (FOB) on Saturday.
Addressing the participants, Bureau of Outreach Communication Regional Director Keshavmurthy described yoga as “a way of life which relieves our body and mind of all tensions.” He said yoga should be made mandatory in schools “as it can help improve the emotional health of children.”
Keshavmurthy informed that the Bureau of Outreach Communication (earlier known as DFP) has lined up 148 special outreach programmes all over India, during which divisions of the bureau will organise group discussions and rallies, besides elocution, painting and quiz contests, public meetings, and yoga demonstration.
He informed that yoga has been adopted by the United Nations, and that it also finds mention in the UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Pasighat FOB in-charge Mihir Jha enumerated the benefits of yoga.
A documentary on various yogasanas, produced by the AYUSH ministry, was also screened.
