Capital DA receives two ‘SKOCH-Order of Merit’ award in GPS based sanitation management and e-office

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: The Capital Complex District Administration received SKOCH ‘Order of Merit’ awards in two categories -GPS based Sanitation Management at Itanagar and e-office at the deputy commissioner’s office here.
This is the second award for the e-office implementation in the DC’s office after the national e-governance award received in the month of February this year
The awards were received by Circle Officer Bittu Kri and District Informatics Officer Tarani Kumar on behalf of the district administration in the 52nd SKOCH summit at Constitution Club, New Delhi on Saturday.
Highlighting on the GPS based sanitation management, Kri informed that the solid waste is one of the major problems in Indian cities. For the capital city too, it was a major problem as had been proved in the Swachh Survekshan of 2016 where the city was placed as the third dirtiest city. However, with efforts of the district administration and Itanagar Municipal Council, it soon improved its rankings by giant strides to reach the half way mark by ranking 216 out of 434 cities.
The GPS based system is helping the civic body to track the vehicles and detect irregularities in solid waste collection. All vehicles of the IMC have been fitted with GPS devices enabling real-time tracking, cost saving, efficient route management and bringing accountability in sanitation management.
Regarding the successful implementation of e-office, Kumar informed that the office of the Capital Complex deputy commissioner is the only DC’s office in the entire North East region to have adopted e-office, making it a paperless office.
Both Kri and Kumar lauded DC Capital Complex Prince Dhawan for his effort to streamline the system of solid waste management through GPS tracking and adoption of e-Office to ensure transparency and accountability in the system of file movement. Both hoped that under the guidance of Dhawan, the Capital Complex would see major developments in the coming years, especially in the field of information technology.
On Thursday, the Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign and Chief Minister’s Free Cancer Chemotherapy Scheme had also bagged the ‘SKOCH-Order of Merit’ Award at the same ongoing summit.(DIPRO)
