ITANAGAR, Jul 4: The Social Justice Empowerment and Tribal Affairs (SJETA) department is going to release the scholarship of both the pre and post matric students before the end of July.
This decision was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of SJETA Commissioner Gamli Padu at his office chamber on 3 July, informed the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), which had called on the SJETA commissioner on Wednesday regarding immediate disbursement of the pre and post matric scholarship under the Union ministry of Tribal Affairs.
Referring to the decisions taken in the meeting, the AAPSU said ‘the process of disbursement kept getting delayed due to technical problems. While the list of 13, 000 applicants had been successfully registered online, it has to be verified by the IT department to check the duplicity. From the next academic year, 2018-19, the applicants have to fill their respective forms online under the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) only.’
Meanwhil, the AAPSU appealed to the students to have patience till the end of this month.
The AAPSU team, headed by its vice president Dr Tayuk Sonam and education secretary Prem Tallang Camdir also lauded the authority concerned for the positive response.
However, the union said that it will not remain silent if the authorities fail to disburse the scholarship amount at the given time (within 30th July).
IT Secretary Prince Dhawan, SJETA Special Secretary Kinny Singh, SJETA Director Yumlam Kaha and PO (IT) Banya Boje were present in the meeting, the release said.
