ITANAGAR, Jul 6: The rank and file of the state BJP observed the 117th birth anniversary of Bharatiya Jan Sangh founder and former parliamentarian, Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, at the party’s headquarters here on Friday.
Dr Mookerjee served as the industries & supplies minister in the first cabinet post-Independence. He founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951, which was re-formed as the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1980.
State BJP president Tapir Gao and vice president Dominic Tadar delivered lectures on the life and achievements of the late leader.
Senior BJP leader Techi Necha, Parliamentary Secretary Gabriel D Wangsu, former ministers and MLAs, and party workers attended the programme.
