KHONSA, Jul 10: The Tirap Community Resource Management Society (TCRMS) under the North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project (NERCORMP) has said it will take up schemes in convergence with the NERCORMP’s project activities.
Following a meeting held here on Tuesday, the TCRMS, which is composed of heads of line departments, assured to provide technical support whenever required by the project.
The agriculture department assured to support the NERCORMP communities in the non-farm sector and in large-scale cultivation of vegetables, while the KVKs of Tirap and Longding said they would provide technical support in implementing NERCORMP activities.
ADC Techu Aran suggested to the NERCORMP to take up “tangible and sustainable livelihood activities” for the benefit of the communities. He requested the line departments and other agencies to “extend technical and financial convergence with the NERCORMP to achieve larger impact of the livelihood project.”
Tirap District NERCORMP CRMS Project Director Ruzing Bellai presented a report on the status of implementation of NERCORMP activities in Tirap and Longding districts. He informed that the NERCORMP is going to adopt a mechanism for “collective production and marketing of livelihood products.”
Bellai also explained the initiatives taken by the NEC and the DoNER ministry for the benefit of the project’s communities.
NABARD District Development Manager Kamal Roy stressed on the importance of the animal husbandry sector and the dairy sector “in influencing the livelihood patterns of the rural population of the district.” He made a presentation on various government schemes for the benefit of farmers. (DIPRO)
