BOMDILA, Jul 18: The West Kameng district KVK and Agriculture department jointly organized a meeting on ‘Doubling Farmer’s Income by 2022’ at Chug village, Dirang in West Kameng district on Tuesday.
Addressing officials and nearly 86 farmers, Dirang ADC Dagbom Riba emphasised on fishery based eco-tourism and homestay to uplift the economy of the farmers.
Thembang Block Circle Officer, Dr Dechin Droka congratulated the villagers of Chug village for being adopted as ‘Model Village’ for doubling farmer’s income by 2022 and encouraged the farmers to make it the ‘rice-bowl’ village of the district.
Bomdila DDA L Thungon emphasized on proper implementation of road map for doubling farmer’s income, while Bomdila DHO GP Dubey gave importance on distribution and plantation of high value crops, such as avocado, kiwi and persimmon.
Dirang SVO Dr Dargey Tsering focused on improvement of local cattle by artificial insemination and integration of duckery, goatery and dairy unit in the farm, while Dirang WRD JE J Singh elaborated on various irrigation schemes launched by the government.
Bomdila FO P K Thungon spoke on social taboos related to fish farming “which have to be removed”.
KVK head and senior scientist Dr N D Singh also spoke on the occasion.
