ITANAGAR, Jul 27: The All Arunachal Pradesh Workers’ Union (AAPWU) has requested the tax & excise minister to regularize the casual employees of the department on the basis of seniority.
In a representation to the minister, the union claimed that various categories of regular services are lying vacant in the department following the promotion of the incumbents, and that the existing contingency/casual employees “are expecting for their awarding services benefits through Departmental Promotion Committee,” particularly for the posts of LDC and MTS.
Meanwhile, the AAPWU’s Upper Subansiri district unit has served a 14-day ultimatum to the power department’s executive engineer to remove an “illegally appointed” WC wireman in the Dumporijo electrical subdivision.
The unit has threatened to stage a dharna, followed by indefinite pen- and tool-down strike, if its demand is not met.
