BOLUNG, Aug 4: Members of the farmers’ club here in Lower Dibang Valley district were informed about government- and NABARD-sponsored schemes like CMKRY, DDUSY, Rural Mart, Rural Haat, etc, during an interaction programme organized by the NABARD on Saturday.
NABARD District Development Manager Nitya Mili advised the members of the farmers’ club to work together, apply appropriate technology with the KVK’s assistance, and find solutions to the problems faced by them.
He also advocated scientific methods of cultivation of crops to get higher yield.
Agriculture Development Officer T Modi explained various schemes of the state government being implemented by agriculture department, and urged the participants to enquire with the department’s officials at regular intervals about the schemes available.
Horticulture Development Officer Olivia Moyong briefed the gathering on the schemes of the horticulture department and asked the farmers to grow area-specific horticultural crops.
KVK head Dr TJ Ramesha spoke on the prospects of the agriculture and horticulture crops grown in the region. He emphasized on value addition of the crops to fetch better returns. Spices Board Senior Field Officer Jyothish K advised the farmers to adopt organic farming.
