Major decisions taken for improvement of GHSS

SEPPA, Aug 7: A parent-teacher meeting was conducted here on Tuesday at the government higher secondary school (GHSS) which has been adopted by the East Kameng Social Welfare & Cultural Organization (EKSWCO).
Resolving to improve the overall academic environment of the school, the parents and teachers emphasized on strict implementation of school rules and regulations.
After threadbare discussion, five major decisions were taken: compulsory minimum 75% attendance for qualifying to sit in examinations; implementation of detention policy; ban on use of cell phones by students in the school campus; maintenance of teachers’ diary recording students’ behaviour; and imposition of fine and punishment, including rustication, for irregularities in class.
The participants also resolved to conduct regular or monthly parents-teachers meeting.
EKSWCO chairman Safar Pao in his address urged teachers, students and parents to comply with the rules and regulations framed by the School Management and Development Committee (SMDC) for further improvement of the education scenario in East Kameng district.
The new SMDC was also formed, comprising mostly of parents.
After the meeting, the EKSWCO team inspected the condition of the school’s building and sanitation, and learned about the shortage of subject teachers. The team will apprise the higher authority concerned regarding the shortage of teachers, it said.
