WAKRO, Aug 12: The Cultural and Literary Society of Mishmi organized an awareness programme on social evils and issues, here in Lohit district on 11 August.
Resource persons from various professions deliberated on issues such as poor academic performance of students, rise in occurrence of fatal road accidents, opium addiction and its legal and social implications, misuse of social media, customary rituals, and the alarming rise in depletion of the forest cover and its long-term ramifications on the society.
The participants were also enlightened about the NDPS and the POCSO Acts.
Retired chief engineer Lupalum Kri, Apna Vidhya Bhawan chairman Rohinso Krisikro, and public leader Soto Thalai also spoke.
Public leaders, former PRI members, GBs, members of the Wakro Women Welfare Society, and students attended the awareness programme.
