Rally staged to demand demarcation of DEMWS

PASIGHAT, Aug 24: A peaceful rally was held here under the aegis of the Adi Students’ Union (AdiSU) on Friday to register protest against the Pasighat wildlife division DFO for not meeting the long-pending demand for demarcation of the D Ering Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary (DEMWS).
The rally began from the premises of the DFO’s office and culminated at the DC office. Over 400 students and people from ten villages – Borguli, Namsing, Mer, Gaum, Kongkul, Seram, Moum, Raling, Sigar, and Kiyit – participated.
The AdiSU representatives later submitted their charter of demands to the East Siang DC.
The demands include remapping the actual demarcation of the DEMWS, bringing the original map of the Lali wildlife sanctuary/Lali reserve forest into public domain, issuing public notification and conducting hearing on DEMWS, etc.
The DC assured to write to the PCCF to look into the matter and call a public meeting within 15 days to address the issues.
