BANDERDEWA, Aug 26: A team of the Naharlagun police apprehended two persons trying to sell a 7.65 mm pistol with six live rounds at a petrol depot here on Sunday.
The accused have been identified as Kipa Tatung and Phassang Taha.
Capital SP M Harsha Vardhan informed that the police had received information about some miscreants trying to sell a pistol at Kankarnallah, Naharlagun.
The police team pursued the miscreants from Kankarnallah, intercepted the duo at Banderdewa, made the arrests, and seized the pistol and cartridge with six live rounds.
A case has been registered at the Naharlagun police station under the Arms Act, and the accused are in police custody.
“We are keeping a strict watch on suspects and more action will follow,” Vardhan said.
The police team included SI SS Jha, Naharlagun PS OC Nikom Riba, SDPO Make Bui, and Constables HB Roy, Duli Ado, Kina Tacho, KK Singh, T Dada, and L Ronrang.
