Sangma remembered

ITANAGAR, Sep 1: The state unit of the National People’s Party (NPP) celebrated the 71st birth anniversary of former Lok Sabha speaker and founder of NPP, late Purno Agitok Sangma, at the NPP office here.
Speaking on the occasion, NPP state president Gicho Kabak said Sangma was one of the greatest leaders from the Northeast to transform into a national leader.
“His vision and thoughts have become very important for the country, particularly the Northeastern states,” Kabak said.
State NPP vice-president Nima Sangey Saling highlighted the life and achievements of Sangma, who had humble beginnings and went on to become one of the most renowned entrepreneurs, humanitarians, and politicians in the Northeast.
State NPP vice-presidents JT Takam and Anok Wangsa, general secretary Pourchu Tamin, state NPP Youth Front president Kamsi Bage, and state NPP Women Front president Repe Bagra also spoke.
Sangma’s 71st birth anniversary was also celebrated in the 17 districts where the NPP has its offices.
