NAHARLAGUN, Sep 10: Kra Daadi won the opening match of the girls’ U-17 state level Dubroto Cup football tournament, defeating Changlang 2-0 at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium here on Monday.
Six out of the scheduled eight matches were played at three different playgrounds on the opening day.
Upper Subansiri and West Kameng were given a walkover against Siang and Tawang, respectively, after the latter failed to turn up for the matches.
The second match was played between East Kameng and West Siang, and the match was won by East Kameng by 4-0 goals.
In other matches, East Siang beat Tirap 6-0, Kurung Kumey beat Lohit 2-0, Capital Complex beat Lower Dibang Valley 3-0, and Upper Siang beat Namsai 2-0.
The tournament for the boys’ section will begin on 15 September.
Earlier, 1st AP Bn NCC Commanding Officer Col RK Sharma kicked off the tournament at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, in the presence of State Council of Educational Research and Training Director Moto Nyori.
Tournament chairman and Secondary Education Director Gania Leij highlighted the importance of the Subroto Cup.
