AALO, Sep 14: The West Siang District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in collaboration with the police department organized a series of awareness programmes on disaster management and preparedness, covering 31 sectors of Aalo township, from 27 August to 13 September.
The concluding day’s programme was held at Yijo Colony.
The DDMO explained the impacts of earthquake, and the dos and don’ts during and after calamity.
The DDMO advised the public to remain prepared to reduce disaster risks since the Northeast region falls under Seismic Zone V, where earthquakes can strike any time.
The team from the Aalo fire station presented a demonstration on fire safety, rescue operation, and first aid during fire incident.
The public were also educated about handling of LPG cylinders and related issues. (DIPRO)
