AAPWU suspends proposed agitation as govt assures to fulfill demands

ITANAGAR, Oct 9: The All Arunachal Pradesh Workers’ Union (AAPWU) has suspended its proposed statewide phase-wise democratic movement, following a meeting with the state government here on Tuesday.
The state government, represented by Chief Secretary Satya Gopal, held the meeting with AAPWU representatives following an ultimatum served by the latter demanding fulfillment of its various demands.
The AAPWU claimed that the government has assured to fulfill some of its demands, such as for maternity leave
and uniformity in grade pay for same work charge for staffs under various government establishments.
“The demands for enhancement of wages and appointment on compassionate ground to the dependant family members of deceased contingency or casual worker(s) would be considered on reasonable ground,” the union stated in a release.
PWD Commissioner Bilatee Pertin, Labour Secretary Kapa Kholie, Finance Deputy Secretary L Sumpa,and Labour Commissioner Ojing Darung also attended the meeting.
The AAPWU was represented by its president Tadung Yangfo and secretary general Techi Tara.
