KORONU, Oct 23: “Help yourselves by cultivating an interest in reading and studies, and only then can you make something of yourself,” Lower Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner Mitali Namchoom told the students of classes 9 and 10 of the government secondary school here during a surprise inspection of the school on Tuesday.
“Teachers will teach you in the classroom but you too have to learn and try to improve yourself,” she said, and lamented the dismal results in the previous years’ CBSE exams. She, however, expressed hope that the results would improve in the coming years.
Namchoom checked the reading ability of students in the primary section, and demonstrated basic techniques for their improvement.
The DC also checked the attendance of the teachers, and instructed them to take special care to improve the reading ability of the students, concentrate on language abilities, sentence construction, etc, and work towards bringing out the confidence of the students.
Namchoom also took stock of the midday meal availability, and inspected the school’s kitchen during the visit. (DIPRO)
