HAPOLI, Oct 28: David Ngomle and Irani Sonowal won the open men’s single and open women’s single title, respectively, in the 4th State Level Bamin Tani Memorial Badminton Tournament, which concluded at the multipurpose indoor stadium here on Sunday.
Ngomle beat Kirto Nyorak by 21/15, 21/8 while Sonowal beat Tayo Ana by 21/19, 21/14 in the finals.
Also, the pair of Ngomle and Bikom Boje won the open men’s doubles title, defeating Raj Thapa and Kenjom Tacha by 21/18, 22/20, while in the women’s category the pair of Irani Sonowal and Kenpi Karga defeated Dani Dilhyang and Chuku Martha by 21/15, 21/17.
In the veteran men’s singles category, Laa Raju defeated Hano Hailyang by 22/20, 21/16, whereas in the veteran men’s doubles final category, the pair of Jibang Gumja and Tulo defeated Dr Hage Tadii and Ige Gamlin by 21/18, 21/19.
In the inter-school senior boys’ team championship, Frontier School Ziro’s Habu Tona and Tai Bakar defeated Subu Ropo and Lod Jorang of Ziro Valley School Ziro.
In the inter-school junior boys’ team championship, Narang Narang, Raju Chetry, Tapi Pullo and Nitor Nayam of Love Shore Public School, Ziro, beat Mui Tadak and Kanhaiya Kumar Yadav of LBS government middle school to emerge winners.
Tayo Shanti, Tuk Eya and Dani Kaniya of Mihin Bagang GSS, Hapoli, beat Koj Munya, Tilling Manu, Koj Sumpa and Likha Yajo of Midland Education Centre in the inter-school senior girls’ team championship finals, while the Love Shore Public School team, comprising Heni Tamang, Milli Beni, Bengia Sangtey and Nangram Boni, defeated Talyang Nimu and Hage Yamang of Puna Rinyo Foundation School, Ziro.
