MECHUKHA, Nov 5: Frustrated at the failure of the authority concerned to fulfill its various demands, the United Students’ Organization of Mechukha Sub-Division (USOMS) has declared a 24-hour ‘chakka bandh’ here in West Siang district on 6 November.
In a representation to the ADC, the organization stated that the chakka bandh would be in effect from 5 am of 6 November to 5 am of 7 November.
The organization has been demanding upgrading of BSNL services, along with 3G services, in Mechukha.
“Mobile cellular services in Mechukha are also highly erratic due to non up-gradation of existing BSNL tower and
unavailability of private networks,” the USOMS said, and demanded that the authority concerned immediately replace or upgrade the existing BSNL with 3G services.
Also claiming that the community health centre (CHC) here is operating without a dental surgeon, the organization demanded immediate posting of a dentist at the CHC. It also demanded that the x-ray machine at the CHC be made functional, and that the dilapidated football ground in Mechukha be repaired and maintained.
Also taking serious note of the reported absence of HoDs of various departments, the organization demanded stern action against such officials.
