ITANAGAR, Nov 9: Chief Minister Pema Khandu assured to provide support in promoting sports and sportspersons in the state.
He said this when international karate champion Nobin Jomoh and his coach Bulang Marik called on him here on Friday.
Jomoh, who is currently serving as an inspector in the Arunachal Pradesh Police, has so far won five gold, four silver, and 2 bronze medals in various international events, besides winning 19 gold, seven silver, and 12 bronze medals in national events.
A world karate qualified coach licence holder, he has participated in several world championships held in several European countries, besides in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, UAE and Turkey.
Pema congratulated Jomoh on his achievements, and assured the duo of every help in their endeavour to promote sports in Arunachal.
He also expressed happiness that karatekas from the state performed brilliantly in the recently held Northeast Olympic Games in Imphal by bagging nine gold medals and one bronze medal.
The CM conveyed his best wishes to the duo, who will be competing in the Commonwealth Karate Championship to be held in Durban, South Africa, on 28 November. (CMO)
