YUPIA, Nov 9: Members of the Papum Pare District Agriculture Development Society along with progressive farmers and others participated in a meeting here on Thursday to finalize the sectoral allotment of fund and project proposals under the CM’s Sashakt Kisan Yojana and Krishi Samuh Yojana.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Joram Beda, who chaired the meeting, advised the HoDs of the agriculture and allied departments to ensure that the farmers reap the benefits of the schemes, and asked the departments to submit their proposals at the earliest.
Agriculture Development Officer Hage Amphi spoke on the objectives of the schemes, and officials of the agriculture and allied departments submitted proposals for setting up a model farm on integrated farming system, milking machine-cum-chilling units, construction of a freshwater fish seed hatchery, handloom unit, etc.
Agriculture Deputy Director Joram Tako also attended the meeting.
Earlier, on 6 November, the DC opened the farmers’ facilitation centre (FFC) at the office of the agriculture deputy director here, in the presence of agriculture development officers, horticulture development officers and progressive farmers.
The DC commended the agriculture department for the initiative, and said the FFC should serve as a hub for agriculture and allied activities. He advocated encouraging the farmers to visit the centre with queries, and to avail of seeds, fertilizers, organic manures, etc, at subsidized rates.
The FFC will also facilitate the farmers-producers organization, in collaboration with the department, in conducting training and awareness programmes for the farmers of the district. (DIPRO)
