ZIRO/PASIGHAT, Nov 26: Saint Claret College here in Lower Subansiri district set the platform for the programme, ‘Pay back to society’, on Monday.
An initiative of Governor BD Mishra, the programme aims to increase recruitment in the armed forces.
Speaking as resource person, Col Tolum Dubi led the technical session and explained to the students of St Claret College, VKV Ziro, and Frontier School, Hapoli the multi-faceted opportunities waiting for those interested in joining the armed forces.
Accompanied by Capt Hage Ado and Lt Liang Kobing, Col Dubi also shared his experiences in the army, and encouraged the students to pursue careers in the armed forces.
During the interactive session, Dubi clarified the doubts raised by the students.
In East Siang HQ Pasighat, Arunachalee commissioned officers in the navy, the army and the air force, led by retired IAF group captain M Panging, interacted with over 3000 school and college students, and shared their experiences.
In the morning session, the officers interacted with students of various schools at the outdoor stadium here and encouraged them to join the armed forces for their personal and professional growth.
Assuring guidance from officers such as Surgeon Commander Marak Pertin, Maj Ponung Doming and Capt Ligang Sera, Panging said joining the armed forces “is not only an opportunity to serve the nation, but also offers various opportunities to explore the world.”
The officers also delivered motivational speeches to an audience of over 200 students at the lower campus of JN College on Monday. (With DIPRO input)
