ITANAGAR, Dec 7: Raluk Dui of Upper Subansiri district emerged the champion of the 10th state level FIDE rating open chess tournament, 2018.
He collected eight points from nine rounds.
Manjit Taw of Papum Pare and Tapung Pogia of Upper Subansiri secured the second and third positions with 7.5 and 7.0 points, respectively.
In the U-11 category, Hatin Piya of Upper Subansiri and Abhiraj Banerjee of Kamle district won the first and second positions, respectively.
In 15-year category, Nabam Agu and Techi Taker of Lower Subansiri bagged the first and second positions, while in U-19 category, Tami Tata of Kra Daadi and Tao Kaku of Lower Subansiri secured the first and second position, respectively.
Paksing Bimpak of Upper Subansiri, who secured 6 points out of 9, was adjudged the best unrated player of the tournament.
Jinita Sorum and Hashi Piya, both from Upper Subansiri, were adjudged the first and second best unrated player of the tournament in the women’s category.
A five-minute blitz tournament was also conducted, in which Tabu Dupit of Upper Subansiri emerged the winner.
Raluk Dui and Tachung Dupit, both from Upper Subansiri, clinched the second the third position, respectively.
All Arunachal Pradesh Chess Association (AAPCA) chief patron Repo Ronya gave away the prizes to the winners.
AAPCA president Niapung Konia said the association is planning to organize more chess events in the future and would also conduct coaching camps in order to promote the game.
He urged district chess associations to be active and conduct tournaments regularly for the benefit of the players.
Ninety-two players from various districts participated in the tournament, which was played in the Swiss System of International FIDE Rule at the MLA Cottage indoor hall here from 2 to 6 December.
