Arunachal reign supreme at NE Karate C’ship

ITANAGAR, Dec 12: Arunachal Pradesh reigned supreme at the 6th National Level North East Karate Championship clinching the overall championship title for the sixth consecutive years at Dimapur, Nagaland.
The state bagged as many as 70 medals-36 golds, 17 silvers and equal numbers of bronze — in the three-day championship, which concluded at Assam Rifles Training School Centre, Dimapur, Nagaland on Wednesday, informed Arunachal Karate Do Association Technical Director S Deben Sarma.
Assam with 17 golds, 12 silvers and 20 bronzes finished runners up followed by Assam Rifles (12 gold, 2 sil, 2 br) in the third position.
Arunachal were also champions in senior men’s, junior boys’ and girls’ Team Kata events. The senior women’s kata Team finished runners up.
The championship was organized by Dimapaur based Assam Rifles at its training centre at Shokhovi.
The Arunachal Pradesh Team was led by Rakesh Gamnu as team coach, and Tage Saa and Gollo Joseph as assistant coaches.
