HOLLONGI, Jan 15: The weeklong second ‘interstate cultural exchange festival’ got underway here in Papum Pare district on Monday.
The festival, themed ‘Promote traditional and cultural identity’, was inaugurated by PWD Capital Division Executive Engineer Tana Nikam Tara in the presence of local leaders and villagers from both sides of the boundary between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
Nikam advised the committee to continue organizing the event every year, “so that the relationship among the people living on either side of the Arunachal-Assam boundary remains cordial.”
Stating that cultures bring people closer, he urged the people to encourage matrimonial relations in order to strengthen the ties between the communities residing in the area.
All Arunachal Pradesh Nursery Growers’ Association president Tai Mama and Global Human Rights Organisation chairman Yowa Bullet also spoke.
