LICHI, Jan 20: Forty-three-year-old Taba Tabin was electrocuted to death and three others received grievous injuries while erecting a telecommunication post here in Papum Pare district on Sunday.
The grievously injured are Tarh Bobin (22), Hiba Tapin (22) and the deceased’s son, Taba Tara (20). They have been shifted to the Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in Naharlagun for treatment.
Kimin Sub-divisional Officer (SDO) Likha Tejji informed that the incident occurred at around 9.30 am.
Reportedly, the team was erecting a post for telecom service provider Jio in an area between Hawa Camp and Lichi village when the post came in contact with a high-tension wire overhead.
The SDO said he has directed the officer-in-charge of the Kimin police station to inquire into the incident and submit a report.
Local MLA and Environment & Forests Minister Nabam Rebia said he along with officers concerned and the magistrate will be visiting the site of the incident on Monday and assess the situation.
The minister said he will also meet the victims’ families and visit the injured at the TRIHMS, besides extending ex gratia as per the rules. (With DIPRO inputs)
