Workshop on DigiLocker conducted

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: Heads of departments and other government officials participated in a state level workshop on DigiLocker at the legislative assembly here on Tuesday.
The workshop was organized by the IT and communication (IT&C) department in association with the national e-governance division (NeGD) of the union electronics & IT ministry.
Addressing the participants, IT&C Director Neelam Yapin Tana urged them to be “part of the DigiLocker ecosystem either as an issuer, requester or verifier, and help to realize the ‘Digital India’ vision.”
The workshop also witnessed the integration of two state government services – the e-services and the inner-line permit (ILP) – which was launched by IT&C Secretary Sonam Chombay.
With this, the six e-services certificates – SC/ST, domicile, income, resident, dependency and character certificates – will now be accessible to the state’s residents in their DigiLocker accounts.
Similarly, visitors to Arunachal Pradesh can now access their ILPs from their DigiLocker accounts.
Chombay urged the education, land records, PDS and transport departments to provide documents in the digital format, using DigiLocker.
A technical presentation was made by NeGD Additional Director Debabrata Nayak.
The DigiLocker is a free digital wallet service provided to citizens to help them access their documents anytime, anywhere. It aims at eliminating the use of physical documents, and enables the use of verified electronic documents across agencies.
It will enable various organizations registered on DigiLocker to issue certificates of citizens directly to their DigiLocker accounts. A citizen can share these electronic certificates online with various departments and agencies registered on DigiLocker while applying for the services provided by them.
DigiLocker can be access on the web at https://digilocker.gov.in. Documents such as Aadhaar, driving licence, vehicle registration, PAN, and LPG subscription voucher are available through DigiLocker. (DIPRO)
