RONO HILLS, Jan 25: The 6th edition of the state level football tournament for veterans was won by PTC after defeating Laba FC by a solitary goal in the final at the football ground here in Papum Pare district on Friday.
The tournament winner was scored by SK Deori in the second half of the match.
The award for the best performers went to Tage Tath (PTC) and Upen Basumatary (LABA FC). Golom Ete (PTC) was declared the player of the tournament.
The awards for the best goalkeeper and the best defender went to Onam Saroh of PTC and Nabam Niya of Laba FC, respectively.
The ‘most disciplined team’ award went to East Kameng Sporting Club.
The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh along with the trophy, and the runner-up were given a cash prize of Rs 50,000 with a trophy.
All individual achievers were also given cash prizes and trophies.
Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso, who attended the closing function, highlighted the importance of sports for a healthy body and sound mind, and reiterated the state government’s commitment to promote games and sports in Arunachal.
“It does not matter whether you win or lose, but participation is important,” he said.
Arunachal Chamber of Commerce and Industry general secretary Tarh Nachung also motivated the players, and commended the organization of the tournament.
Ten teams from different parts of the state participated in the tournament, informed organizing chairman Toko Tatung.
Organising committee vice chairman Tadar Baro and secretary Tadar Rupu also addressed the gathering.
The tournament was organised by E&K’s, in collaboration with the Capital Complex Sporting Club, under the aegis of the Arunachal Pradesh Football Association.
