RONO HILLS, Jan 27: Rajiv Gandhi University’s (RGU) chemistry department is all set to host a three-day Salters’ chemistry camp for high school students of Arunachal Pradesh at the university’s campus here from 29 January.
The Salters’ chemistry camps, founded in 1998, are residential camps that run for three days and two nights for Class 9 students from government, underprivileged and aided schools. The hands-on practical chemistry camp seeks to ensure that the participating students experience a taste of chemistry in a fun way.
As part of the experience, the participants will interact with senior chemistry researchers of the university, work on chemical reactions, and interact with peers from other schools.
At least 60 students of Papum Pare district are expected to attend the camp. The endeavor by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and the Salters’ Institute, both based in London, is aimed to support high-quality chemistry education in India. The programme ensures that teachers gain knowledge and skill to deliver inspiring lessons, while students experience a true taste of chemistry.
