PASIGHAT, Jan 28: Twenty-seven farmers from Ledum, Mirem and Bilat-Bamin circles participated in a training programme on ‘water management in horticultural crops’ organised by the College of Horticulture and Forestry (CHF) here in East Siang district on Monday.
The farmers received training in water management-based cultivation of fruits, vegetables and plantation crops, besides in soil and water management in Khasi mandarin, application of micro-irrigation system, solution to the problem of fruit dropping, PMKSY, etc.
They were also exposed to the techniques of water management in citrus nurseries, and a demonstration on rainwater harvesting system and solar pumping system.
The programme was inaugurated by the dean of the CHF, and the training was imparted by agriculture engineering associate professor Dr Saroj Kumar Pattanaaik.
