ITANAGAR, Jan 30: A pre-consultative meeting was held on 29 January regarding creation of ‘Centre of Excellence’ to be supported by the Tribal Research Institute (TRI) of Arunachal Pradesh under the Social Justice & Empowerment and Tribal Affairs Department.
The basic objective of the consultative meeting held was to draw a road map to start off and strengthen the TRI in its infrastructural needs, research and documentation activities and training & capacity building programmes, etc.
The TRI will focus on its core responsibilities as body of knowledge and research more or less as a think-tank for tribal development, preservation of tribal cultural heritage, providing inputs to state government for evidence-based planning and appropriate legislations, capacity building of tribal people and persons/ institutions associated with tribal affairs, dissemination of information and creation of awareness, informed a departmental release.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of the department of Sociology, department of Anthropology and Arunachal Institute of Tribal Studies of Rajiv Gandhi University.
