AALO, Feb 5: The second Jumi Rike Ete Memorial Veteran Football Tournament, themed ‘Football for health and sportsmanship spirit’ began at the GHSS playground here in West Siang district on Monday.
The opening match was played between Aalo United Veteran and Bene Veteran, in which the former defeated the latter 4-1.
Eight teams from the district are participating in the tournament, which is sponsored by Jumge Ete, in memory of his deceased mother, and organized under the banners of the District Sports Association and the District Football Association.
Before the start of the match, a minute’s silence was observed as a mark of respect to late Jumi Rike Ete, in whose name the tournament is being organized. (DIPRO)
