Is APSSB another APPSC in making?

Dear Editor,
While the recent advertisement for the post of UDC, LDC, JSA and personal assistant by APSSB was like a ray of hope for all the unemployed youth in the state but it also has many problems that are present in the advertisement itself. Some of the problems and suggestions for improvement are listed below
1) the advertisement states that exams for all the post may be conducted in one single day which is unacceptable especially when job notifications come out ones in a blue moon. If it were to be conducted in one single day then why were candidates asked to apply separately for every notified post. If it is to be conducted in one single day then they should have followed the SSC CHSL Exam pattern whereby candidates need to apply only once and after that the candidates need to state the preference for the post advertised as per one’s eligibility or it could have been more better if different notification were published for all the post. Why make candidate opt one post over other? Is it not a form of depriving an unemployed candidate from opportunity? Does it not amount to loot when candidates apply for all the post but due to bureaucratic lethargy a candidate have to sit for the exam of only one post throwing away the opportunity to sit for the exam of other post. The board should therefore conduct separate exams for different post on different dates since the allocated exam centers (district headquarters) could be far away from each other.
2) In a section of APSSB notification it is mentioned that there is no scope of re- evaluation, which is against the principle of transparency. The question arises of what if the answer key fed into the machine were not correct. Will they select candidates on the basis of merit or on the basis of wrong answer fed into the machine? The board should unlike the APPSC publish answer keys for every single paper and give candidates time to raise objections if there is any in the answer keys. This section will become the path through which nepotism and corruption will emerge in recruitment process killing the sole purpose of establishing the APSSB.
3) It is mentioned in the advertisement that there will be a typing test for UDC and LDC and also skill test for stenographer. The Board should ensure that these tests are conducted earnestly as per the notification. There are many computer skill center in and around the capital city where such test can be conducted. It has been seen in the past that candidates without the requisite typing speed are recruited and skill test have always been eyewash.
4) The APSSB should also list out all the post for which it can and it will conduct recruitment examination along with detailed eligibility criteria. In its first recruitment notification, there were posts like radio mechanic and projector operator which required certificate courses on certain trade which in a way made many non eligible for the said post. The unemployed youth will be more than happy to pursue such courses in their free time which make them eligible for such exclusive job if the board inform them beforehand.
The Board should look into these abovementioned matter before they become grievances for the candidates as well as for the board. We already have an APPSC, we don’t need another.
Sincerely,
A concerned candidate
