University students take part in rural camp

APOP, Feb 17: The social work department of Chimpu-based Himalayan University organized a five-day rural camp themed ‘Escalating community living and participation for rural people’ for its students at Apop village in Papum Pare district recently.
The objective of the camp, which concluded on 15 February, was to acquaint the students with the rural social structures and cultural processes, and to provide them an opportunity to learn the practical aspects of social work.
During the camp, the social work students, under the guidance of assistant professors Tana Naso, Raju Ghising and Megotso K, conducted an awareness rally on health and sanitation, social service, and a cultural programme, and learned about the village’s social structure and institutions.
The programme also saw the participation of gaon burahs, village youths, and members of SHGs and community based-organizations.
