ITANAGAR, Feb 19: Free LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna (PMUY) were distributed to 12 women of the BPL category by local MLA Techi Kaso at the Donyi Polo Gas Agency here on Tuesday.
Kaso reiterated his commitment to serve all sections of society, but added that it would only be possible if people extend helping hands.
“The PMUY is helpful for women as it will save them time from collecting firewood,” Kaso said, and urged the officers of the food & civil supplies department to include more poor women under the scheme.
Papum Pare DFCSO Amit Bengia elaborated the system of the scheme, and its benefits.
“If there is any complaint with the PDS system, the officers of department are always ready to help the consumers,” he said.
Among others, city BJP president Tarh Soping, mandal president Tadar Patung, and SDFCSO Yumlam Achung addressed the gathering. The programme was organized by the city BJP.
