Youths killed in police firing mourned

ITANAGAR, Feb 27: Messages are pouring in from various organizations across the state, mourning the three youths who lost their lives in police firing during the anti-PRC agitation here.
Risso Tari, Biki Ruja and Tsering Wangdi died in police firing that occurred during the agitation.
Expressing profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Biki Ruja, the Biki Youth Association and the Biki Welfare Society in a condolence message said the supreme sacrifice made by Ruja for the cause of the indigenous people of the state would always be remembered by them and the people of the state.
Both the organizations prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Born in 2001 in Gai village in Gangte circle of Kra Daadi district, Ruja was a 4th semester student at Dera Natung Government College (DNGC).
The DNGC fraternity has also mourned the death of Ruja and expressed solidarity with his bereaved family.
In a statement, DNGC Principal Dr NT Rikam recalled Ruja as an active volunteer of the NSS and a bright student. The college has expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family.
The Arunachal Youth Organization (AYO) and the All Arunachal Tourism Students’ Union (AATSU) also in separate releases expressed sorrow over the death of Tari, Ruja and Wangdi.
“The loss of the three brothers who sacrificed their lives in the fight for justice sent a shockwave throughout the state. Their death was a loss of human hope and belief, which cannot be replaced in the years to come,” the AYO said.
The organisation demanded that the state government offer adequate compensation to the bereaved families.
The AATSU while mourning the demise of the three youths appealed to the people to maintain peace in the state. It urged the state government to not raise the PRC issue again, and to pay compensation to the bereaved families.
The union meanwhile condemned the looting of shops in the capital complex by some mobs during the turmoil.
Congress leader Jarjum Gamlin Ete also mourned the death of the three young people in the recent violence in Itanagar.
In a press statement, she expressed grief and extended her condolences to the bereaved families. She also wished speedy recovery to the injured.
