ITANAGAR, Mar 14: The amount of unaccounted cash seized in the state has gone up to Rs 28 lakh in the past two days, police said on Thursday.
In East Siang district, Rs 10.72 lakh has been seized from various places, police sources said.
Similarly, Rs 1.80 lakh was seized at Seppa, the headquarters of East Kameng district.
According to Thursday updates, the capital unit police seized 28 local daos (machetes) and knives, and removed 11 more posters, banners and other defacements in the capital.
Additional 20 guns have been deposited to the police here.
Wads of cash were seized from various checkpoints at Naharlagun, Itanagar and Nirjuli, in the run-up to the polls where the model code of conduct is in place.
On Wednesday, the police here seized cash amount of more than Rs 15 lakh, eight rifles/guns, 15 live rounds and 20 local doas, informed Capital SP Tumme Amo.
The seized money has been taken over by the Income Tax Department on Thursday as per guidelines of the ECI.
