Movement restricted in Seppa following violence

SEPPA, Mar 31: Following reports of clashes between supporters of Seppa East BJP candidate Ealing Tallang and NPP candidate Tapuk Taku on 30 March, the East Kameng deputy commissioner has issued an order prohibiting movement of people in groups of more than four in the township from 5 pm to 6 am, till further orders.
Stating that unlawful activities not only disturb peace but also create fear psychosis among the public and the business community, the DC has also prohibited the movement of vehicles in the town.
However, the order exempts polling officials, government servants with ID cards, police, government vehicles, state transport buses, Tata Sumo taxis of licensed tour operators/counters, school buses/vans, milk vans, ambulances, essential supply vehicles, and accredited media persons.
Private vehicle owners going to Itanagar or Tezpur and tour operators have been directed to obtain one-time permits from the EAC (MV) for their vehicles at least an hour before embarking on their journey.
“Any group of persons found roaming in the township under suspicious circumstances shall be apprehended by the patrolling party for detention,” the order read.
The East Kameng SP could not be reached for more details on the reported clashes.
