Tawang DCC demands transfer of DEO in-charge for violating MCC

ITANAGAR, Apr 4: The Tawang District Congress Committee (DCC) has demanded immediate transfer of the district election officer (DEO) in-charge, EAC Lobsang Tsetan, in order to ensure free and fair assembly election in the district.
Alleging that the EAC violated the election model code of conduct (MCC), the DCC along with the Tawang Block Congress Committee in a complaint letter to the chief electoral officer here alleged that Tsetan arranged a “political meeting” in the Tawang DC’s conference hall on 1 April.
“Our complaint against him is with reference to an incident on 1st April, 2019, where the BJP candidate for Tawang assembly constituency, Tsering Tashi, addressed a gathering of the officers and staff in the DC conference hall. The subject of his talk was clearly and blatantly political,” the DCC said in its complaint.
“Most importantly,” the DCC said, “this is the same room where the EVM and VVPAT machines are randomized. In fact, a day after the political meeting, the EVM and VVPAT machines are being verified in the very same room. This is in clear violation of Part 19.1.2 of the manual on the MCC.”
