ITANAGAR, Apr 21: The makers of NEFA 1953 went home with the highest number of awards in the state’s first film award ceremony, held during the closing ceremony of the 6th Arunachal Film Festival (AFF) at the Dree ground here on Sunday.
Earlier, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) Vice Chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha congratulated the Film Federation of Arunachal (FFA) for the successful conduct of the event and offered to work together with the federation in organizing ‘Borderland Narratives’, the university’s
independent film festival.
Also underscoring the potential of films in changing the mindset of the society, Prof Kushwaha advocated having a “film city” in the state to facilitate filmmakers in the state in highlighting social issues which need to be discussed.
FFA president Hali Welly said, “The federation is hosting the state’s first film award ceremony to recognize the hard work and creativity of filmmakers and artists in the state, which had been denied to them for long.”
He said the FFA would pursue the state government for preparing a “state film policy,” incorporating the inputs discussed during the panel discussion on film tourism and policy on the first day of the festival.
Attending the ceremony, Capital SP Tumme Amo congratulated the winners and suggested taking up documentary film projects to highlight safety and security issues.
