ITANAGAR, May 3: Cyclonic storm Fani is likely to hit most of the districts of Arunachal Pradesh on 4 and 5 May.
The intensity of the storm is, however, likely to be reduced, and all the states of the Northeast region will face its effect in the form of strong surface winds reaching 30-40 kmph.
Widespread rainfall is expected in the western and central parts of the state, the disaster management (DM) directorate informed on Friday, based on the weather warning report received from the regional meteorological centre in Guwahati, Assam.
All the districts of the state which are likely to be affected by the cyclonic storm have been alerted, and directions have been issued to take all precautionary and preventive measures, the DM directorate said.
A team of the NDRF has been positioned in Bhalukpong in West Kameng district for immediate action, if need be, the release said, and requested the public to not panic and beware of fake news and messages being circulated on social media.

Meanwhile, Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner (in-charge) Talom Dupak has urged the residents of the capital complex to “remain calm and not panic or believe in rumours regarding cyclone Fani.”
