PASIGHAT, Jun 4: East Siang Deputy Commissioner Kinny Singh has asked DMO Dr Kaling Dai to ensure that biomedical waste is disposed of properly, and that all health facilities are in place in the district.
Addressing a meeting of the district’s biomedical waste advisory committee here on Monday, the DC instructed Pasighat Municipal Council EE Kipa Gagung to liaise with the authorities concerned for proper disposal of biomedical waste, and said the administration would extend all help in the process.
The DMO on his part asked the medical officers (MO) to submit the annual biomedical waste report on 5 June.
Responding to the difficulties pointed out by the MOs regarding obtaining land possession certificates for their respective hospitals – which is one of the major criteria for getting authorization certificates from the state pollution control board (SPCB) – Dr Dai assured that the DC would take care of it, and asked the MOs to apply for authorization certificates from the SPCB.
It was decided during the meeting that Ruksin CHC MO (in-charge) Dr Kadum Jonnom will assist all the CHCs and PHCs in biomedical waste disposal, while Bilat MO (in-charge) Dr Jhony Darang will assist all sub-centres of the district in biomedical waste disposal. (DIPRO)
