ITANAGAR, Jun 22: Namsai district has secured the first rank in education among the 117 aspirational districts in the country.
This was informed by the NITI Aayog’s Chief Executive Officer, Amitabh Kant, on Saturday, in an official letter to Chief Secretary Satya Gopal.
The ranking was based on the incremental progress made in the February-March period this year. As per the guidelines of the special initiative, Namsai has become eligible for a one-time additional allocation of Rs 3 crore, in the form of untied fund.
The district has been asked by the NITI Aayog to prepare a plan of action in
consultation with the state and central prabhari officers of Namsai, and to send the plan to the NITI Aayog, along with their recommendations, within a fortnight.
The empowered committee of secretaries constituted for the aspirational district programme will further consider the plan of action for approval.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein tweeted congratulations and complimented the Namsai district administration and officers of the education department on the achievement.
He urged them to work with more enthusiasm “to bring more such results for the betterment of the district in particular and the state as a whole.” (DCMO)
