CHANGLANG, Jul 30: Changlang DC RK Sharma on Tuesday asked the North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project (NERCORMP) to “ensure the sustainability of SHGs beyond the project by facilitating them with bank credit linkages.”
Speaking during a meeting to review the schemes being implemented under the NERCORMP-III project here, the DC asked the NERCORMP’s district project director (DPD) to organise capacity building programmes among the villagers, with resource persons from outside the state, and “ensure that each and every eligible beneficiary takes advantage of the project.”
Sharma also advocated “convergence of the schemes with other line departments through coordination and cooperation for better outcome.”
NERCORMP DPD N Sukajit made a presentation on the status of various components of NERCORMP-III, and its
physical and financial achievements, while NABARD DDM Kamal Roy urged the SHGs and NaRMGs to improve their grade by improving their performance.
Roy also informed that a farmers-producers organisation would soon be formed in Changlang district. He gave assurance that he would take up with bankers to get SHGs linked to banks that would facilitate meeting their credit requirements.
Representatives of NGOs placed grievances such as low service charges, non-issuance of electronic equipment, etc. The meeting was attended by HoDs and partner NGOs of NERCORMP-III. (DIPRO)
